Knowledge and Intervention

Our lectures and talks endeavor to offer a panoramic view of the project Truth, Beauty, Freedom and Money. From an investigation centered on new media（Michael Naimark) and media archaeology (Siegfried Zielinski) to the reality of activism and the activities of web communities (Stephen Kovats), our program seeks not only to provide a more systematic elaboration of new media, but also new cultural tendencies and life situations from the multilayered perspective of the past, present and future.

The work of artists provides a context parallel to our discussions. If we closely observe the site of production of each individual artist, we will begin to see the way their unique logic, experience and sense of time subtly unfold within the overall landscape of the exhibition. Our exhibition features artists who come from different countries (geo-political dynamics), work with divergent types of media (art media relation) and have culturally mixed ways of visual presentation (the clash between identity and culture). Under this light, the artist talks are a response to the shift in global trends (also the change of subjectivity) from the perspective of their specific cultural context.

In other words, our project can be seen as an exploration of the past and future in the sea of knowledge, or the understanding and transformation of one’s potentiality through being in the act.

研讨与讲座将为整个项目《真实、美、自由和金钱》提供一个更大的全景，从2003年以来的新媒体调查（Michael Naimark）到媒体考古学（Siegfried Zielinski），乃至作为行动主义和媒体社群活动的现实（Stephen Kovats），从多层次的过去、未来和现在的角度给出更系统的线索，关于新媒体，同样关于新的文化倾向和生活现状。

艺术家的工作将为这些提供另外一个平行的语境，从微观个体艺术家的工作现场和细节中，我们可以发现这一全景内的微妙进程和独属于艺术家自身逻辑、时间和经验的延伸。此次展览的艺术家涉及到多个国家（作为地缘关系），多重媒介（作为艺术媒介关系），以及多种文化混合的视觉呈现（作为身份与文化碰撞）。艺术家讲座将更多就自身出发的文化语境关系，对应整个世界潮流（主体）之变迁。

或在知识的时间海洋中，探索过去未来之现象，或在行动中体悟自我之可能，以及对应之创造。
