李振华：你作品中技术和方法，以及美学的关系如何？
Li Zhenhua: Can you describe the issues of technique, methods and aesthetics that you deal with in your creations?

David Oreilly: There is usually a broad amount of ideas that work together when I make a short film or other project. I try to not get in the way of the software too much and allow it to steer the direction of the design and sometimes the story.

李振华：能否谈谈你认为的当代艺术是什么？
Li Zhenhua: In your opinion, what is contemporary art?

David Oreilly: Contemporary art is a small group of people playing a game of appearing conceptually clever by hiding meaning in obscurity. For the artist, it’s more about building a brand to increase value than creating meaningful work. I do not call myself an artist and get very little inspiration from contemporary art.

李振华：你认为的好的展览需要做到什么？
Li Zhenhua: What should a good exhibition achieve?

David Oreilly: It should communicate to people, it should teach people about the world they live in.

李振华：你如何看待作品和将要面对的观众？能否描述他们将会是谁、年龄多大、男女，或其他？
Li Zhenhua: To what extent can you predict or plan for the encounter between your artwork and the beholder? Is it possible to imagine and take account of who they might be, how old they are, what gender roles they might adopt…?

David Oreilly: I try to not get in the way of how a viewer sees my work. I’d like to disappear and have them discover it for themselves.

李振华：你想对观者说什么？
Li Zhenhua: What do you want to tell the beholder?

David Oreilly: Nothing.
